Along with the growth of the global economy integration, companies of all sizes have faced tremendous pressure to reduce cost and improve the profitability in order to successfully compete in the global business arena. Lean Six Sigma seems to be the most promising approach that helps companies to achieve the goal. In this thesis, we introduce Lean and Six Sigma, and the merger of them. By means of a detailed case analysis, we discuss the successful incorporation of Lean Six Sigma concept into supply chain of the leading medical technology company MT to improve the accuracy of HS code, including the background introduction, project choosing, team building and DMAIC application. Significant results were attained, increasing the accuracy rate of HS code to100%, which benefit both financial gain of MT and as well as the customer’s level of service. By focusing on the factors and tools that facilitated the success of Lean Six Sigma, the purpose of this thesis is to prove this way is very practically and effectively not only for MT but also for other companies’ implementation in supply chain field. Nevertheless, there are some limitations. We provide some suggestions for the control phase and employee incentives. Our future research will concern the application of Lean Six Sigma in the areas related to medical technology or in the integration of supply chain field.
