A Study On The Columns Of "Curve News" During The Anti - Japanese War

Playing an important role in the history of China’s Anti‐Japanese War, Zhang Youluan, a well‐known patriotic journalist, news expert and classic litterateur emerging during the war of the Chinese People’s War of resistance against Japanese Aggression, had rich achievements in both journal editing and writing.In 1938, receiving the invitation from the Nanjing Hsin Min Pao which had moved its site to Chongqing, Zhang Youluan participated in the rebuilding work and opened a new column Curve news on the third layout of social news on August, 13 th,1939. Composing with outstanding skills and unique editing ideas, the new column demonstrated the bitterness of people’s livelihood and toughness in the resistance war in a “curving” way which was humorous and implicit, thus guiding readers to positively fight in the war, calling for democracy and maintaining vigor.This paper taking the column Curve news by Zhang Youluan as research object through the analysis of his topic selection and news composing,tries to recall and summarize the uniqueness of news report in the period of resistance war, and to explore the impact of Anti‐Japan War and inspiration for today’s journalism.
