Chinese opera, one of the traditional cultures of China, is not only the essence of Chinese culture, but also the treasure of national culture. The history and civilization of several thousand years are spiritual portrayal of Chinese culture. Opera of China, Buddhist drama of India and tragedy and comedy of Greek are known as three ancient opera cultures of the world. Opera of China is the inheritance of 5000-year Chinese civilization, which records historical stories and humanistic style. And it is the main leisure method for people’s worship ceremony, recreation and other cultural and entertainment activities. Just because of uniqueness of Chinese opera, it will produce strong artistic attractions. At the initial developing stage of Chinese TV industry, types and contents of TV programs were less. In order to enrich contents of TV programs, TV station once played a lot of opera programs on screen once. Opera was linked with TV at around 1950 s. First type of TV opera of Beijing TV Station was firstly broadcast. In subsequent screen of TV, various programs of TV opera were developed, from playing of sections to show of complete opera on screen to special column of TV opera, opera competition of TV and opera party of TV. TV opera experiences the process from white and black to color and from recorded broadcast and real time broadcast and from single form of opera to diversified changing process. On broadcast platform, CCTV, as a national TV organization, not only issued special opera channel, and local TV stations also rolled out featured local opera columns, such as Liyuanchun of HNTV, Going to Opera Stage of Shanxi TV, New Opera Show of TJTV, and other featured programs, which are of diversified types and cover wide types of opera, so that they are favored by a lot of opera fans. TV, as the main medium of our daily life, is featured by massification, popularization and integration so that traditional opera can be broadcast to the public via TV platform. With more visual method, opera, which needed to be appreciated in theatre in the past, is put on screen. Prosperous development of TV opera will greatly meet the demand of opera fans for “listening to” opera of broadcast and tape. Meanwhile, it is also an important cultural phenomenon of TV industry of China. However, in recent years, opera is gradually marginalized as a traditional art of China and less people are willing to listen to and watch opera. TV opera programs are also trapped in awkward situation. With development of opera program, a lot of problems appear correspondingly, such as too old age of audiences and stereotyped form of program. For TV program to get capital support, its advertisements take too much time and pure opera program of children becomes secularized. Impacted by comprehensive entertainment program, the broadcast of a lot of excellent opera programs has been stopped, resulting in a series of problems. TV opera, an important channel of spreading and carrying forward traditional culture of China, plays a very important role in popularizing Chinese opera culture and spreading opera culture and tradition to more TV audiences. So, within fierce competition environment of TV media today, it is very important to realize innovative development for TV opera programs. TV opera programs should catch up with the times and pulse in the new forms to highlight essence of TV opera program in carrying forward national culture and make efforts to spread traditional culture of China to domestic and overseas audiences and make Chinese opera appreciated by both Chinese people and world people.
