The management of construction schedule, as an important work in project management of contractors, is related with the realization of objects including project period, cost, quality etc. While, we often face problems that it is hard to implement plan and schedule control in the actual construction, and construction delay often occurs.At the same time, with the modern architecture increasingly large and complex, which brings greater challenges to the management of construction schedule, and puts forward higher requirements on it.Due to some problems, such as correlation between schedule and engineering entities is not high, schedule can’t change in time with the change of entities, project information is lost serious and tracking analysis, existing in traditional schedule management, it is difficult to control construction schedule. In a word, it can’t meet the needs of management requirement of modern building. New management methods are urgent need for management of construction schedule so that to promote the project implemented smoothly and ensure progress toward and complete target.For that, BIM technology, with advantages of three-dimensional visualization, fourdimensional dynamic simulation analysis, and highly integrated information sharing, improves the shortcomings of traditional schedule management, enhances the management level of progress, and provides new ideas and methods for the construction schedule management. However, BIM is just applied in simulation stage, the value of BIM remains to be developed.This paper firstly analyzes the theory and method of the traditional schedule management and make clear of traditional schedule planning, scheduling optimization and schedule control of the work content and implementation methods. Then, in-depth analysis of the BIM technology and domestic and foreign commonly used BIM software and its functions. On this basis, determine the objective of BIM schedule management, build the approaches and implementation framework of construction schedule management based on BIM. And analysis of the BIM model construction method and model information requirements, all of this is to lay the foundation for adding BIM into traditional construction schedule management.Secondly, studying the changes after the BIM technology introduced into the schedule management, and designing the schedule workflow of schedule plan and schedule optimization and schedule control based on BIM. And according to the workflow and BIM software to determine the implementation procedures and method. Meanwhile, this paper determined works required to be done and methods to executed in schedule management based on BIM in Construction preparation stage, construction stage and completion acceptance stage. During each stage, BIM application point are analyzed especially for smooth development of construction tasks and Effective implementation of schedule.Finally, this paper takes an international Middle School project as an empirical research example for BIM construction schedule management using Luban softwares and advantages and disadvantages were concluded by analyzing its implementation effects, which can be taken into consideration for contractors in their progress management and benefits BIM’s development in project implementation phase.
