With the fierce competition in Chinese vehicle market the local-brand vehicle company has to establish its own R&D and test validation system as soon as possible to enhance core competitive power. SMTC lab construction, as one important part of the core competitive system, will be the substantial foundation for vehicle development. Schedule management for the lab construction project also concerns the plan and cost of the following vehicle development crucially.Due to current situation of schedule delay and confusion management in lab construction project, combined with the practice, this paper combs project system frame and work flow, analyses main reasons of project delay, uses critical chain method for modeling of lab construction project schedule development and dynamic control. This model is also validated in EMC lab construction project. In the process of modeling, this paper overcomes some key issues such as task time-estimation compressing, resource conflict balance, potential digging, buffer setting, critical chain identification and project dynamic control with buffer management diagram. The model is pertinently for lab construction project.Via application of the model not only the project is completed on time but the feasibility of critical chain method for lab construction is also validated. It provides theoretic and practical basis and gives a benchmark for the other projects.
