With the appearance of a wide range of fog and haze in 2013, air pollution had became the focus of attention. The people’s understanding to the problem of air pollution only stay in the sensory level, lack of scientific demonstration and analysis, some of the environmental protection department and scholars did some research and analysis about Beijing and other major urban air pollution source and their influence factors. Research of second line city such as Shijiazhuang City air quality problems was not much, especially on the effects of traffic pollution on second-tier cities air pollution was scarce. The existing literature mostly concentrated in the variation characteristics and observation of air pollutants and influence of social economic and energy structure factors on air pollution from the macro level. Starting from the micro level, this paper analyzed the impact of urban traffic pollution sources and meteorological conditions on air quality in Shijiazhuang City, and provided reference for the follow-up study.Taking Shijiazhuang City as an example, We chose the air pollutants(PM2.5, PM10, CO, SO2 and NO2) of four air quality monitoring sites in the urban area(Workers’ Hospital, People’s Hall, South Campus of 22 th Middle School and Century Park) as the research object. Through the investigation of characteristics of traffic, included the traffic volume and average speed, on the main road near the monitoring points, combined with meteorological factors those affecting the spread of air pollutants, included the temperature, humidity, wind direction and wind power. First, analyzed the variation characteristics of air pollutants and their influence factors, and then used the correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis method to analyze the influence of variation of air pollutant concentration, and finally found out the key factors affecting the air the quality of Shijiazhuang City.The results showed that: the temperature is the most important factor of PM2.5, PM10 and CO concentrations, followed by wind; the wind power is the most important factor of SO2 and NO2 concentrations, followed by temperature. And traffic volume in the various factors affecting the concentration of pollutants are ranked in the end, it shows that the change of temperature and wind and other weather conditions on air quality in Shijiazhuang city is greater than the impact of urban traffic on air quality, which in a certain extent also shows that the urban road traffic emission is not the main source of air pollution in Shijiazhuang City.The main innovation of this paper is to analyze the influence of traffic characteristics on air quality of Shijiazhuang City by using the hourly average data of air pollutants and its influencing factors. The objective of this study is to provide a scientific basis for the objective understanding of the current situation of air pollution in Shijiazhuang City, and to provide some references for the prevention and control of air pollution in Shijiazhuang City.
