In order to meet the requirements of the mechatronics product for virtual simulation of mechanical manufacturing industry and the design of monitor, the Siemens industry software co.,LTD., according to the current industry status quo and extensive market research, proposed the concept of mechatronics concept design, and MCD virtual simulation platform is developed combined with computer aided design software UG NX. The packing assembly lines virtual, but the control elements are real. In this thesis, the design of virtual simulation and monitoring system of packing assembly line based on the MCD platform has two purposes. Firstly, the simulation system can help designer to design the packing line. As the virtual simulation and monitoring system of packing assembly line is based on 3D platform, the designers can accurately see the internal structures and components of all motions in the design process.Secondly, the system can be used for real-time monitoring based on the three dimensional animation, which is more intuitively and clear than traditional Windows control center(WinCC).In this thesis, the analysis and summary of the state-of-the-art of the virtual simulation monitoring system and packing assembly line monitoring system based on the MCD platform is presented. The existing problem of application MCD in the packing assembly line is analyzed and the solutions are put forward. Then the two major issues for the design of the virtual simulation and monitoring system based on MCD platform are studied, i.e. the simulation model design and the monitoring design. Simulation model design makes use of the product life cycle management software Team center to set up the demand of the packing assembly line, functional structure, logical model, and to build the model by defining the physical properties and motion properties on the MCD platform based on the real scene. In order to be able to realize the data exchange of the model and the hardware to meet the requirement of the monitoring, this thesis does not use traditional way of accumulation model, but uses sketching stretching mode optimization model in the process of building a model, based on the reasonable selection of collision body and rigid body assembly line model physical properties are improved; By using the simulation sequence based on event the movement properties are redefined. Model monitoring design mainly uses MCD platform which provides the software interface to completethe data exchange between the virtual simulation system of packing assembly line and the actual PLC hardware and software system, so as to realize the monitoring of the assembly line. Up to now MCD cannot communicate with PLC, this thesis puts forward a new communication method, which uses XML technology to realize the real-time data exchange between the virtual system and the input-output of PLC based on analyzing the characters of the MCD virtual simulation platform. Furthermore, this thesis uses the OPC server as the communication bridge between MCD and PLC, thereby realizing the real-time data exchange between MCD and PLC.Finally, the simulation and monitoring system of packing assembly line is test. The testing results show that the system designed in this thesis is feasible and reliable.
