In recent decade, with the rapid development of China’s automobile industry, the volume of cars production and sales increasing year by year, followed by fierce competition among auto makers increasing and market imbalance between supply and demand.The whole auto industry is committed to seeking to reduce production costs, shorten the product cycle, improve production capacity. According to statistics, in the manufacturing assembly workload average accounts for 45% of the production workload and the costs accounted for about 30% of the manufacturing cost, so the facing the problem for enterprise is how to improve the quality and efficiency of the assembly. The assembly line balance degree is the most direct factors that influence the efficiency of assembly, the sequence of operation process during the line balancing will be directly reflected in the quality of the assembly. So the automobile assembly line balance optimization occupies a key position in the production of car. This thesis takes car interior trim assembly line as the research object, carries research on assembly line production system simulation and balance optimization.Based on the background of auto production system, introduce the process of car assembly. According to actual production system of the interior line, establish a plant simulation model. In the process of establish simulation, entity selection, set up and its parameter setting are introduced. By running the simulation, output the result of simulation, analysis and summarize the problems of the production line.Because the interior line belongs to two-side assembly, with the target on type I balancing problem, the corresponding mathematical model is established and the improved genetic algorithm is proposed. The encoding and decoding method is designed, the fitness function is constructed, the initial population selection method and the choice mechanism of the population is determined. The crossover and mutation methods of the population is presented. The improved genetic algorithms is applied into the auto interior two-side assembly line, using computer programming validate the effectiveness of algorithm, finally shorten the length of assembly line, eliminate the waiting time, assembly line get a better balance rate and efficiency.
