This paper first presents a system architecture without building control and management center to decrease the operating costs of city intelligent paking system. The architecture consists of Zigbee networks covering parking lots or parking areas by the roads and the drivers’ smart cellphones.This paper centralizes on the design of the hardware and software of the Zigbee network on the foundation of the proposed architecture. As to the selection of the main components, LPC11C14 chip produced by NXP Semiconductors is selected as the embedded controller of the coordinator node of the whole Zigbee network; TI’s CC2530 chip is choosed as the communication chip for the coordinators, the routers and the end devices; SIM300 is served as the GPRS module of the coordinator’s nodes, Honeywell’s HMC5883 L is choosed as parking state detection sensors. In the design of hardware circuit, basic peripheral circuits of the LPC11C14, CC2530 serial connection circuit, SPI to UART circuit, data storage circuit, and basic peripheral circuits of SIM300 and CC2530 are involved, with the completion of the schematic diagram and the PCB diagram using Altium Designer software. In the design of the software, embedded controller’s UART recieve programme, EEPROM data storage programme, SPI to UART conversion programmme, GPRS module’s sending and recieving programme, Zigbee networking and data transmission programme for both three kinds of nodes, program of reading data from HMC5883 L are involved. All of the above have been debugged using IAR software.Independent designed Zigbee motherboard and LPC11C14 circuit motherboard are welded, with commerical Zigbee core board, GPRS module and HMC5883 L moudule being linked. Logic analyser and serial debugging assistant are used to test the functions of Zigbee network transmission, EEPROM data storage, LPC11C14’s control on GPRS module and smart phone, the data reading of the magnetic data by corresponding sensors, and the results indicate that the hardware and software designed can realize the desired functions.In the end of the paper, the work done and the achievements are summarized and the shortage of the design is also investigated.
