Ethnic Elements To Recover In Modern Interior Design

Under the background of economic globalization, China pays much more attention to national culture. However, with the rapid development of economic, the society is glutted with words such as high-speed, profit, production lines,etc. Buildings are going up, and interior designs that copy standard models seems to be a kind of common phenomenon. Chasing after material life blindly leads to chowder-style designs everywhere, and teams that make those kinds of pipeline designs gradually conceal oriental designs which represent Chinese traditional colors. Next, ethnic traditional culture and the residential conception of region and nation will gradually fade away.At the time that the market filled with various kinds of interior designs, the problem that how Chinese style decoration stands out and revives the regional and national indoor decoration culture is worth thinking by practitioners. If the alternation between the old era and the new era is one kind of necessary elements that should be seized in Chinese interior design, then regional element and national element are certainly expanding the dimensions of Chinese interior design.Under this background, the writer choses the Tujia in the west of Hunan Province as the object of research and refines its ethnic elements.Chinese culture contains environments, costumes and traditions of different regions. As one of the 55 minorities in China, the Tujia’s long history, folk custom, ethnic psychology, production and living culture, belief and aesthetic taste integrate into people’s life through the its buildings,wood carvings, furniture, textiles, crafts, stone carving art and bamboo technology, etc., which also have important artistic value. In the inspects of wild and romantic rhetorical style and decoration with regional and national characteristics, the writer analyses the forms of all kinds of the Tujia’s ethnic elements, and find out its research value of ethnic elements presentation in modern housing design and inheritance of ethnic culture.Although not a witness of its history, the writer was born in Chu territory. Based on the writer’s learning on art design,s he hopes do some basic research work about the Tujia’s ethnic elements to help inheritance and development of it. In order to find out the combination of ethnic culture and modern inner house design,the writer extracts the abstract and specific elements of the Tujia’s culture, and uses the methods of quoting and rebuilding to emerge the Tujia’s ethnic elements into the modern inner house design. By analyzing the example of inner house design in the west of Hunan Province comprehensively and systematically, the writer summarizes some personal views about the developments of the Tujia’s regional living culture in the future, and hopes to lay the foundation for waking up the ethnic research on interior design.
