Xiangxi Tujia Architecture Yongshun King Village

Wang cun Tujia traditional residential building came into being along with theold towns’whole developing process. After experiencing elder generation’slong-term practice,the architectural style formed under natural environmentrestrictions with its special regional characteristics, combining its own historicalbackground, local conditions and customs, cultural origins and other factors. It wasalso this unique feature that endows the old town a kind of initiative regulationand rule worth researching.Through the research and investigation of Wang Cun township, including theanalysis of its typical Tujia residential building, this thesis made a research onthe building concept and atheistic features, building types and componential elements,construction and space type, decoration and material features etc. Topics such asthe similarities and differences between Wang Cun architecture building concept andother traditional residential building, discoveries and conclusions of rich culturalcontent of Wang Cun Tujia residential building are also included, thus providing agood example for the continual development of Wang Cun township residential building,and basis for future deep researches. This thesis has made a contribution to the WangCun’s renaissance and culture extension and promotion of sustainable developmentof space and pattern of township building.
