The Application Of Xiangxi Tujia Brocade Patterns In Interior Decoration Design

As an important part of Chinese brocade art, Xiangxi Tujia brocade has a long history. Showing a material cultural attribute of Tujia people and containing the national cultural psychology in its unique way, Tujia brocade enjoys the reputation of "wordless material culture epic" and it has important research value in the arts, culture, history, folk custom, scientific reference, and inheritance utilization. When applied in interior decoration design, the Tujia brocade patterns not only need to be combined with the modern design concept, but their pattern elements need to be refined and recombined. Considered as the embodiment of a national culture, Tujia brocade patterns should be designed with the characteristics of modern visual language of indoor space, and its spirit should be a traditional and ethnic form, together with modern, fashionable elements to meet the taste of aesthetic conceptions of modern times.Firstly, on the basis of on-the-spot investigation and literature study, the paper investigates and analyzes the unique regional characteristics, customs and culture of Xiangxi, and it explores the origin and development process of Xiangxi brocade and tries to study the value of Tujia brocade. The relevant literature it refers to includes: animal subjects, plant,flowers and birds subjects, living articles theme, hieroglyphs subjects, geometric designs subjects and auspicious subject,and it summarizes the characteristics of patterns and colors of Xiangxi Tujia brocade. The research shows that the Tujia brocade patterns exhibit a lot of geometric modeling which can make up for the other deficiencies, and the patterns are always appear as continuous symmetry or the evolution of single patterns; the colors applied in the brocade are almost thick and bright, and among which black is much more popular than white; the complementary of "five colors" and "color contrast" is always used to reveal cultural attributes of Tujia people in its unique way. Through the investigation of weaving tools of Xiangxi Tujia brocade, this paper analyzes the development of Tujia brocade weaving process and the Tujia culture connotation, and it respectively studies the Tujia brocade nature worship, totem worship and the reproduction organ worship.The thesis finally summarizes the conjunction of Xiangxi Tujia brocade patterns and interior decoration, and it states that, through the adaptation, the recombination and revolution of the Tujia brocade patterns, the patterns of Tujia brocade can be applied in the interior space to develop the variety of interior decoration, improve the interior design culture connotation and design diversity by using computer laser printing, pyrography, carving and other means.
