The development of the 18th-century English gardens is a very profound revolution of western garden art. The new form of 18th-century English gardens has brought the new character of soundscape of gardens. At the same time, under the influence of the Pictursques movement, English gardens in the pursuit of the Emblem and Expression which are the main aesthetics characteristics of the Pictursques. Soundscape of English gardens becomes exemplification of the Picturesques tastes.This research mainly adopts literature research and case analysis method on the soundscape of 18th-century English gardens. The main research contents are as followed:(1) Based on the unique historical and cultural background of English gardens during the 18th-century, tries to explore the tastes of soundscape in 18th-century English gardens. At the same time, research on the Picturesque movement as the breakthrough point of soundscape in 18th-century English gardens. Try to reveal the concepts for the construction of soundscape in 18th-century English gardens through the specific context of this time.(2) Summarize the characteristic of unique structure of garden design which including water system layout, cultivation of plants, decorating of animals and the lifestyle of 18 thcentury English gardens. Try to reveal the main characteristic of soundscape in 18th-century English gardens.(3) Base on the analysis of three typical cases of 18th-century English gardens, reveal the soundscape of gardens during the 18th-century.Further clarify the characteristics and concepts of soundscape in English gardens in 18 th centuryWith soundscape as a unique perspective of this research, not only provide a new method of the research of 18th-century English garden, but serving as reference for the construction of a modern soundscape system. This research has both theoretical and practical significance.
