The Research Of The High-Rise Building's Form And Expression In The New Century

With over 100 years'development, high-rise buildings has become a kind of essential building type, which is acting as an important carrier of organising modern urban life, consisting the city's vision, and carrying the city's cultures. As a product of development of times, the high-rise buildings are closely associated with societies,economies and technologies in the modern times. The background of new century strongly supports the innovation and development of designing ideas,strategies and technology methods and brings out the trend of varieties of forms of the high-rise architectures in the new century.The purposes of the dissertation are to ascertain the research purposes and meanings of the subject in order to define the research areas which is covering the form and expression of the high-rise buildings in the new century by means of analysing the time background,current status and future development of the high-rise buildings in the new century. The dissertation will start with analysing the high-rise buildings'forms of appearance, and then analyse main features, development trend and core quality of the modern high-rise buildings with different aspects of related theoretical systems.The research methods used in the dissertation includes: case study, theoretical analysis, case summarisation, sum up and syllogism, etc. By using these methods, the forms of appearance of the new century's high-rise buildings will be discussed from the following 3 aspects: characteristics exhibition, correspondence to technologies and inheriting cultures. Summarising variety of potential designing ideas and strategies included in the form of exhibition, as well as particular technological methods to realise the designing ideas in order to complete the in-depth analysis to the forms of exhibition of the high-rise buildings in the new century. On the basis of that the possible designing strategies and technological methods will be proposed from the 3 aspects mentioned above, the development trend of the new century's high-rise buildings will be studied as well. Hopefully these related designing strategies will provide the beneficial references to the development trend of the high-rise building in the new century, so that they can play a more active, efficient and healthier role in organising the urban lives and shaping the city's vision.
