During the past more than ten years, landscape and gardening expositions of many levels have developed quite well in China. Among those, International Horticultural Exposition (IHE), which has the highest level, catches most eyes and has the greatest influence. The huge influence of IHEs have gotten much attention from Chinese and local government, and thus China has become one of the countries which have held many IHEs. However, owing to more commission and hope put on Chinese IHEs, and Chinese special situation, the after-use of these Chinese IHEs begin to show more and more problems, which stop Chinese IHEs and the host cities from sustainable development.According to this situation, this study took IHEs as study objects, used literature review, case study, field investigation, summary and analysis, and many other research methods, to further study the after-use of Chinese IHEs. Based on a great many of case study of Chinese IHEs held in the past and some typical foreign cases, this study pointed out the problems existed in Chinese IHEs, summarized the common mode of IHE and gave critics of these modes, and then provided principles of after-use, planning strategies, site selection strategies, IHE running and promotion methods, and promoted the concept of "Internet+" and PPP mode in Chinese IHEs. In the end, the next IHE of A1 level to be held in Beijing in 2019, was used to testify the effects and correctness of the outcomes of this study. This study may provide some guidance and suggestion for the IHEs in the future and thus make contribution to the sustainable development of IHEs in the long run.
