As the platform of international trade under the background of economic globalization, the statuses and functions of portcities are increasingly significant. Meanwhile, the Belt and the Road strategy put forward in 2013 brought the portcities more policy supports and development opportunities as well as higher demands and missions. Therefore, how to optimize the port’s structure and promote the interaction of the portcities has become a very important issue. In view of the Bohai rim has a representative portcity agglomeration, covering several ports of different spatial forms and scales, this study proposed a research on the spatial and industrial interaction of the portcities in Bohai rim.The relationships between the port and the city are complex and various, but the spatial and the industrial relationships between them are undoubtedly two of the most important aspects. This research selected 17 portcities in Bohai rim as the research object and used quantitative research methods, qualitative description methods and deductive methods. Based on the brief overview of the spatial distribution and development of the portcities, this paper analyzed the portcity spatial interaction from spatial location, spatial scale and the transport, and the industrial interaction from the industry type, industry scale and the traffic demand.And the paper drew the conclusions from four aspects, classification of portcities, the evolution of the relationships between the port and the city, the industrial development and traffic layout. In terms of classification of portcities, this paper argued that the portcities in Bohai rim could be divided into 7 classes and 9 types on the basis of spatial structure and had 5 function orientations considering the development of the port, city and its industry. In terms of the evolution of the portcity, this paper analyzed the data from 2005 to 2014 and found out the numbers of the ports and the urban areas had some influences in the stability of the relationships between the port and the city. Comparatively, portcities with two urban areas or only one port were more stable. In the aspect of industry development, the portcities in Liaoning had more disadvantage industries while the portcities in Tianjin and Hebei had more advantage industries, and the portcities in Shandong were relatively diverse. And in the terms of traffic layout, road traffic was the main part of the whole traffic system in all the portcities in Bohai rim beside the marine traffic. Meanwhile, the research found out that the spatial distribution of the portcity and the traffic demand of the industry produced a great effect on the traffic layout. In general, when the port was adjacent to the urban area, there were much more traffic problems due to the overlapping of the traffic for the port and traffic for the urban area.
