| The advantages and competitiveness of cities will change with the transformation of its forms.Traditional industries represented by manufacturing industry were evacuating and declining from the center of cities, but emerging industries represented by cultural creativity and entertainment were rising gradually. So the forms of metropolis began to change from production oriented type to consumption oriented type. As part of that drive, the category of commodities extended from traditional goods and services to the space and architecture of cities. Meanwhile, current consumption performed some new characteristics, namely it didn’t only satisfy physiological needs, but also possessed more social cultural color, to become some cultural activities which can distinguish identity, experience emotion and construct self-worth. These changes had become an important cultural context in the development of Chinese current cities. As a higher level consumption, cultural consumption had become one of the research hotspots in Chinese consumption areas. Cultural consumption will certainly become one sort consumption space and enter people’s field of vision as one consumption activity. With the rapid development of economy in our country, historical blocks was facing some questions such as how to preserve tradition, last culture and develop economy in the social background of consumption. The research of this subject was based on this kind of background.Based on the research summary of domestic and foreign historical blocks protection and cultural consumption space, Xiguan historic blocks in Guangzhou was chosen as the research object and researched from object status analysis to the angle of subjective human perception to study its current situation of cultural consumption space in this paper. Through in-depth study on cultural elements as a cultural consumption activity space carrier, this paper elaborated the promoting effect on the development of historical blocks by cultural consumption, which provided theoretical support for the shaping of historical blocks cultural consumption space and made a great significance to the protection and development of historical blocks under the social background of consumption.Firstly, according to the literature review and field investigation, this paper excavated the cultural elements of Xiguan region deeply. This paper explored the traditional style form in Xiguan region and its distribution in Xiguan historic blocks, summarized the main types of Guangzhou Xiguan historical blocks through combining the traits of cultural elements and the unique cultural elements of historic blocks, and pointed out different types of representative blocks, which provides a basis for choosing case blocks and contrastive study.Secondly, combined with comparative analysis, four case blocks was chosen to represent the historical blocks in different types. Based on a full exploration about case blocks cultural characteristics, this paper made a contrastive study on the current situation of cultural consumption space in case blocks from cultural consumption types and cultural consumption space distribution respectively, and summarized the main cultural elements in Xiguan historical blocks, which built a foundation research for perception analysis of Xiguan historical blocks cultural consumption space.Thirdly, via questionnaire survey and perceptual map, this paper made a perception analysis on cultural consumption space from the identity perception, connotation perception of cultural elements and image perception of cultural consumption space based on summarizing the main cultural elements, demonstrated the relationship between cultural elements and the types of historical blocks comprehensively, and explored the perception situation of cultural elements in Xiguan historical blocks cultural consumption space.Finally, combined with deep interviews and case reference and based on the current situation of perception of cultural elements, this paper put forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions on the protection and development of Guangzhou Xiguan historical blocks cultural consumption space from multi angles. |
