Application Research On Engineering Project Management Based On BIM

In the traditional model of engineering project management, participants care about their benefits maximization and try to transfer the risk, which makes them stand to the opposite of other participants and brings difficulties to information communication, then causes a series of problems, such as more design changes, construction delay, inefficiency, miscommunication, cost overruns and so on. Those problems also puzzle practitioners in construction industry all the time.As a new idea and technology, Building information modeling (BIM) attracts the attention of international and domestic academics and the industry. BIM is a new technology to support the construction industry, involving application of different users, different majors, and different project phases, and its implementation changes the cooperation process of engineering project.Schedule management is one of most important project management goals and has a position that can’t be ignored. Through sorting out traditional schedule management’s content and methods and analyzing traditional schedule management’s problems, most of the existing schedule management is found to be afterwards control and have a low information level, then technical tools of the traditional schedule management has great limitations. Therefore, this paper analyses BIM technology advantages in schedule management based on introducing BIM’s concept, application status and related software. After that, this article use BIM technology to establish a three level schedule management system, analyze scheduled plan and schedule management process, and put forward schedule control method.At the same time, this paper explains model building and schedule data creating in detail based on three-dimensional model visualization, then expounds specific application and value that can be realized of BIM technology in schedule management. Finally, taking a two-layer local police station in large-scale project as a case, this article explain BIM technology application in construction phase, elaborate model building, schedule data extraction, site layout, schedule simulation, schedule optimization, and make some analysis and summary about the case.
