Schedule management is an important part of project management, which directly relate to the social benefits and economic benefits of the project. The application of project management software, such as P6 and Project, can promote the level of project schedule management, but there are still many difficulties can not be solved through traditional technology and methods. The emergence and development of BIM technology can provide some new thoughts to the project schedule management. At present, the research about the project schedule management based on BIM technology is insufficient and the research scope is narrow. Especially some research results have a strong theoretical property but a poor practical application value, which cannot easily implement BIM technology in project schedule management. Therefore, it is necessary to study the application of BIM technology in project schedule management and propose methods based on BIM technology with practical application value.Extensive literature research and project cases are referred in this paper. Firstly, after analyzing former theories of schedule management and technological theories of BIM, BIM technology has been introduced to solve the existing problems of schedule management, and then research related softwares of BIM technology, proving the technology’s feasibility, bring the new idea about schedule management. Secondly, comparing with former theories of schedule management, this paper studies the application of BIM technology in project management organization, project schedule and schedule control. Thirdly, three solutions of scheduling management based on different BIM softwares were proposed, elaborating on each one in application flow, the essentials of implementation and the expressing of the result, comparative analyzing from different aspects and studying the applicable condition of each solutions. Fourthly, basing on common characteristics of search solutions, this paper proposes the universal workflow of project schedule management with BIM technology. Fifthly, combining with PBPS practical application in Qingdao School of Fine Arts gymnasium project, the feasibility of project schedule management based on BIM technology is validated in this paper.This paper provides ideas, methods and applying process of project schedule management based on BIM technology, which has a certain theoretical value and realism meaning, and can be the reference to specific application and subsequent studies.
