With the coming of intelligent era and the rise of Internet of Things, as an integration of kinds of advanced technologies, intelligent buildings provide modern people with the high-quality, safe, comfortable and convenient services at home. At the same time, it also reflects the green life concept of high efficiency and energy saving. As an indispensable part of security facilities, an access control system plays an important role in the field of intelligent buildings. However, the traditional access control systems can not achieve a fast network access and an effective personnel identification. To solve this problem, the thesis has designed a multifunctional access control system based on ARM 11 and uses a combination of Ethernet and WIFI to enhance stability. Besides this, a terminal of the system owns two working modes, offline mode and online mode. A terminal can work independently in the case of the loss of the communication with the server. In this thesis, the system composition, scheme of design, hardware schematics and software flow charts of the multifunctional access control system are described. The multifunctional terminal access control system is based on RFID technology, and uses the designing idea which combines S3C6410 core board and main control board. In the ARM 11 core board, an LINUX system, a FTP server, a MySQL database and other softwares are mounted. In the terminal, the real-time data, including the information of personnel identification, time, serial number, regional image identification and so on, is processed, and the authorization information, access records and other information are stored. Thus, even in the case of network outages, improper connection to the server or other special circumstances, the terminal of access control system can still work properly. In addition, the server and mobile client software can access the stored system data according to the access right, user name and password which are pre-defined in the FTP server profiles. At the same time, the real-time data of camera images can be viewed. The work of this thesis includes two parts, hardware design and software design. The former includes the selection of electronic components, schematics of each functional module circuit, PCB diagram design, welding and debugging. As for the software design, it includes the transplanting of embedded LINUX system and the relevant drivers to S3C6410 core board, the building of FTP server and MySQL database and the designing of a communication protocol. Besides this, VC6.0 platform is used to develop the terminal application and the data table is designed to store the all kinds of data. After the completion of the terminal designing, the relevant tests are done.In the thesis, the terminal part of the multifunctional access control system is studied and realized. The scheme with great practical value can effectively meet the requirement of access control in modern buildings and can be also applied to some modern intelligent communities, campuses, enterprise zones and so on.
