Prison plays a high-security and significant role in our society, so its accesscontrol system and management is most critical. Each incident occurs will bringintense stress to the society outside of the prison. Some cases may even bring seriousand uncontrollable consequences. Prison is like a small community. It has a number ofdifferent regions: prison room, living area, dining room, bathroom and so on. With thecurrent criminal’s improving techniques and means, though prevention were taken inadvance, merely rely on the current card swiping and fingerprint recognition accesscontrol system, prison is facing a lot of risks and vulnerabilities. Therefore, it isnecessary to place more labor and resources, as well as high-tech equipments tostrengthen the access control system. With the example of Detention Center X, this paper first introduces the researchbackground and impact of the current access control systems’ development both athome and abroad. Then, this paper induces the significance of access control systemand its authentication process. Later, the development and function features of accesscontrol system are introduced, also the disadvantage of different current accesscontrol systems are analyzed in detail. This paper also provides guidance for thefunction design of access control systems. More explicitly, it proposes mission andobjectives of this paper. The aforementioned conditions frame the criteria for thispaper to follow. Take Detention Center X as an example, the second part of this paperanalyzes the demand of the access control system. The objectives and principles of theaccess system design, functional requirements and non-functional requirements areanalyzed in this paper as well. The third part, first determines the detailed plan ofaccess control system design, and then introduces the overall structure of theframework for high-security access control system and its implemented functions. Inthis part, the paper elaborates identification methods used high security access controlsystem and its advantages. The fourth part, regarding the actual situation and therequirements of X detention center, this paper analyzes the application on personnelidentification on radio frequency technology. At the same time, it designs a readingand writing system for a radio frequency device. Biometric system is introduced, andthe background, acquisition and applications of fingerprint identification system wereanalyzed in this part of the paper. All of these measures provide a complete set of technology that can be used to confirm the identity of reference. Regarding the accesscontrol system designed for prisons, the combination of radio frequency identificationtechnology and identity information biometric technology, this paper designed ahigh-speed network transmission access control system. Finally, the functional testand application of the prison access control system was described. This project hasbeen implemented for three years. Within these three years, the system hardware andsoftware are running stable, which provide a reliable technical support to the securitymanagement.
