The Study Of Natural Interactive Children’s Recreational Space On The City Park

With being highly urbanized, our country is facing the problem of reduced outdoor activities. In the park, children are given more opportunities to improve their knowledge and communication ability. In this study, we will research on the foundation of nature and the possibilities of children recreation space.Firstly, through studying the psychology of child development, environmental behavior, children’s games theory and education theory, as well as cognition, language, sports and psychological characteristics of children, we had a better understanding on the meaning of game for children to recognize the importance of education. Then we focused on the concept of urban parks recreation space, and natural interactive children’s recreation space design, which lay a solid theoretical foundation for the design part.Secondly, through researching and analyzing recreation space questionnaire in the parks of Luoyang City area, we found that there was an urgent need for adults and children to have natural recreation spaces. Next, we discussed the multi-sensory, multi-faceted interactive ways of "human - human", "human - animal" and "plant - people" in the recreation space. In the design, these interactive methods should be considered to give the space sufficient properties.Finally, based on the above basic theory research, we concluded the design features, composition and spatial elements of children’s nature interactive recreation space, and applied into design practice.City Park cannot be a totally pristine natural environment, which has been artificially constructed. However, purely natural environment also has some risks for children. We should create a nature-simulated and safe space for children to play in.The design of natural interactive children’s recreation space is to change the monotonous recreational environment in the past and provide a new choice for children. In the new space, there are abundant recreations for children and new energy for space design, which provide a better model for interaction between children, adults and nature as well as the growth of the youth.
