Research On The Design Of Children Recreation Space From The Perspective Of Safety

With the rapid development of the modern society, the living standards of urban residents have substantially improved. Under the heavy academic pressure, the only child lives in the city whose physiological and psychological quality has being restricted to a certain extent. Therefore, children need to enhance the physical health and enjoy mental pleasure in outdoor recreation space. However, it is often caused children’s personal injury, for one aspect, because of the increasing commercialization of outdoor recreation space, the decrease of public green area, especially the less room for children’s exclusive recreational space, moreover, the cross zone sharing with adults and children in common; for the other aspect, due to the site layout, the greening environment and the space scales has not been designed clearly. In the process for the open space design, some effective solutions should be taken in order to reduce the potential safety problems for children who are playing in the recreation space. It is worth thinking and planning for the designers.In general, urban outdoor recreation space includes the public green space, amusement park, children playground, city square, business district, street, residential areas, comprehensive park, and so on. The above mentioned, only children playground is exclusive space which has been designed and served for children, and other space is basically used for adults and children in common. In the city of outdoor recreation space, because of the deficiency of maintenance management and other reasons, children’s personal and psychological safety cannot be fully protected in their activities. Therefore, the article refers to the investigation and research about the security of children recreation space in urban comprehensive park. Comparing with the research dynamic at home and abroad, meanwhile, according to three theories involving the psychological, behavioral and space security, the conditions about children recreation space will be analyzed, and in terms of the design, the existing problems about security will be discovered. We should discuss the important meaning and its significance about the security of children recreation space, meanwhile, analysis the characteristics of children’s activities and their demand for recreational space in order to find the influencial factors for children recreation space. Moreover, we should analysis the security about children recreation space design and put forward the safety evaluation system, meanwhile, summarizes the security evaluation results in order to propose safety strategy in management and maintenance about children recreation space environment design which includes the site selection, traffic design, space layout, green landscape and small facilities.The case analysis of this paper is based on the investigation and research about children recreation space of the Sun Island Park in Harbin. Refereeing to the relevant literature, using proposed safety evaluation system to evaluate children recreation space about the Sun Island Park, focusing on the potential safety problems, we will propose the security strategy and suggestions about children recreation space safety design in the future city.
