| Lean production, derived from Japan’s Toyota production system, so far has been evolving and developing in the past over 50 years. Practice has proved that lean production has become a new mode of production, essentially different from mass production represented by Ford. The core of lean production is to eliminate waste, substantially reduce costs, improve quality, compress inventory, and shorten the responsive time to customers.The global economic integration is becoming closer and closer, and the competition fiercer and fiercer. After over 30 years’ development since the reform and opening up, China has become a big manufacturing country, but with the continuous downturn in the global economy, the economic crisis has ensued. In our country, labor costs and raw material prices are rising, many industries stay in overcapacity, competition gets more intense, and thus enterprises are confronted with grimmer business environment than ever before. However, lean production, as a new production mode, can greatly help enterprises to reduce costs, improve quality, respond to the market rapidly and improve the competitiveness of enterprises, and therefore many Chinese companies are considering how to apply lean production so as to get the core competitiveness with the optimal cost and high-quality products within the shortest response time.Chinese manufacturing industry began to introduce the lean production model in the 1980s, but after 30 years of development, quite few enterprises have really understood and implemented lean production;some others are still unfamiliar with it or even ignorant.In this background, with the method of case-study, this paper proposes how lean production can be successfully implemented in manufacturing enterprises. Based on the theory of lean thinking, this paper analyzes and studies in detail the technical system and main points of lean production, analyzes and summarizes the systematic methods and tools employed in the practice of lean production in manufacturing enterprises.Through analyzing the operation environment of WH Company and problems existing in its internal operation, the paper further analyzes the feasibility of implementing lean production in WH Company. According to the actual situation of the company, this paper takes the thinking of linking theory with practice, proposes and devises the whole strategy about how to implement lean production in Water-valve Line of WH Company and use the Kaizen method to implement lean production.In the process, the paper analyzes and emphasizes the effect of lean culture on the implementation of lean production and introduces how to establish and implement a performance-evaluation plan that matches the implementation of lean production, by strengthening the implementation of which the lean-production system is implemented in Water-valve Line of WH company and continuously improved, and finally by analyzing and summarizing the effects, we get the general method of successful lean-production implementation in the manufacturing industry.Through analyzing the practice of lean production in WH Company, this paper puts forward an innovative perspective-using the Kaizen method to implement lean production, and also presents a novel viewpoint on establishing a performance-evaluation plan that matches the implementation of lean production in the process of implementation.Through a theoretical analysis of lean production and the successful practice of lean production in Water-valve Line of WH Company, this paper illustrates how to successfully implement lean production in a manufacturing company, and how to sustain the achievements and continuously improve until the final realization of transformation of lean ideas and organizational culture within a company. This paper studies and discusses the general method of implementing lean production in manufacturing enterprises, which, with some applicability, is of great significance to the implementation of lean production in manufacturing industry of the same type. |
