Since the 21st century, aging population has become one of the most important issues. During the process of aging population, there were three features in our country that the population of old people was enormous, the aging population increased rapidly and the aging degree did not match the level of economic development. In this situation, the government and range of experts tried their best to solve the emerged problems. However, for the lack of the standard of aging community planning and researches of public space planning and design in aging community, which was the old taking part in out-door activities relied on, it was necessary to study the strategies and methods of public space planning and design in aging community.Based on the study of existing domestic and international theory, this research analyzed the problems in Chinese aging communities, the merits and drawbacks in the public space planning and design and behavior characteristics and spatial demand of the elderly, through field research, questionnaire survey and interview survey. Eventually, putting forward practical strategies of public space planning and design in aging community from four aspects:road transport, site layout and design, landscape and other auxiliary facilities. In addition, some projects were shown as the model and interpretation of applying the strategies. Generally speaking, the study attempted to guide planning and design of aging community public space and contribute to the coming standard of aging community planning and designs.
