Chinese wooden architectural heritage has rich historical, cultural and artistic value with unique style, but the architectural heritage protection work at present has failed to fully consider the architectural characteristics of wooden structure, especially in the era of continuing development of information technology and scientific management skills. Architectural heritage operation and maintenance management need to be further improved. According to the required upgrade of architectural heritage protection as well as the cooperative protection need of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei cultural heritage, the research analyzes the feasibility and necessity of applying BIM technology to architectural heritage information management. The study further proposes to create a wooden architectural heritage information management platform based on BIM, and solves the problem of their implementation techniques.After surveying and classifying the need of architectural heritage operation and maintenance management, the functional frame of architectural heritage information management platform is divided into four levels, including basic data, shared services, business applications, and integrated decision-making. This part introduces the main business processes in operation management and the content of information management, as condition basis for proposed technical framework. Then, the study summarizes the technical conditions to achieve the above functional requirements, and uses it as the standard to make comparative analysis of GIS and BIM technology to indicate their current situation in the field of architectural heritage. The technology system framework of architectural heritage information management platform is generated as the result of the combination of the above studies and the subject knowledge of information management and logistics. The function of primary technologies is described separately, which includes platform technology, GIS technology, BIM technology, and database. Finally, the research further discusses the details of the architectural heritage information management platform by the example of modeling process, including the modeling approach of stage model, regulation and procedure of systematic modeling. It summarizes the control points of model accuracy according to the type of information and the actual information management needs. Besides, the concrete implementation scheme of information management in different functional levels is explained separately. According to relevance to architectural heritage information and storage mode of platform information, the study also creates specific coding rules towards different information objects.Thus, combining theoretical discussion with practical application, the research builds a set of theoretical framework of wooden architectural heritage information management platform, which offers help in scientific records, operations, maintenance, management, and display of architectural heritage for our country.
