The Research Of Natural User Interface Design Under Thr Guidance Of Mental Model

With the rapid development of information technology, human-computer interface (HCI) has realized three important changes.In the age of Command Line Interface (CLI), people had to memorize computer command to operate. In Graphical User Interface (GUI) era, people only need to identify specific interface elements with the help of the keyboard and mouse to use. However, the Natural User Interface (NUI) provides people the most natural body language to communicate. iPhone and its natural interface also become iconic products in the user interface paradigm change. Different from the GUI design dominating by designer, the NUI design and research must be from the user to explore feasible interface design form.Combining the mental model theory of human cognition model, this paper take the NUI design as its carrier to puts forward a new idea for the NUI design. Based on the mental model related design principles, the paper apply the principle induction including making correct conceptual model, providing timely feedback and highlighting feature visibility to the three components of the NUI design. From the structural layer, frame layer and presentation layer are set forth effective mental model design requirements that NUI has to be achieved. Finally combining with the design practice of general process of building mental model and component design to verify the feasibility of the argument.
