| Yulin is a national historico-cultural city and the major part of the national energy-chemical base,which is located in the transition zone of the Loess Plateau and the Mu Us desert. The urban form presents the belt and cluster pattern along Yuxi River.The propotion of the urban development land is 4 km2 in 1949 and 52 km2 in 2010,expanded 12 times.Facing with the rapid urbanization, it requires in-depth analysis of the internal laws of Yulin urban spatial evolution how to sustainably develop with local conditions,in order to provide a theoretical basis for making development strategies.In this paper,the research object is the spacial evolution of Yulin city. By using the methods of literature citation,historical research and spatial research, the urban development process is divided into several stages,based on the background of the urban evolution.Then it analysises the characteristics,the influencing factors,the development patterns and the causes in each stage,for grasping the general characteristics and mechanism of the spatial evolution,and proposing the development strategies.Based on the geographic foundation,the administrative form,the history construction process,the social-economic development and the urban planning control,the evolution progress can be divided into four stages.In the first stage(1949-1969),urban construction was still confined to the enclosing walls,the spatial pattern is a single center gathering,In the second stage(1970-1979),the city center was still in the old city, the urban construction extended along the east side of Yuxi River, with the recovery of industrial development, urban functions breaked through the enclosing walls to the Southern, the land of industry and administration gathered in the southern, forming the southern industrial area strip along the city’s main thoroughfares,the Dongsha district residential area was closed to the east of the old town, the urban spatial structure was "single center and three groups",the development pattern was a single central axial expansion.In the third stage(1980-1999), the urban development land acrossed the river to be Xisha district, due to the limits of the poor suitable land and the improvement of the ecological environment in the west, the urban spatial structure was "single center and four groups",In the fourth stage(2000-present), the economic development district take shape,and the airport district started construction, the administration relocated from the old city to be the administrative center,the future economic center of the city will be in the economic development distict, urban spatial structure was "three centers and six groups", the development pattern was multi-center and several groups.The characteristic of Yulin urban space is "strip extended and growth groups",the development model experienced the process from single central gathering to multi-center group pattern.Affected by natural geographical environment, economic development, transportation conditions, the policy- planning control and urban functions-scale, the combination of jumping and spreading development in the process. It should put forward the construction of urban development strategies,based on the goals of reasonable composition of urban development land,security of regional ecology, cultural inheritance and sustainable development. |
