A low-cost, practical and applicable to practical training teaching platform of the aero gas turbine engine test on the wings was developed for the need of the aviation maintenance specialty of higher vocational colleges. It consists of three units: the aero gas turbine engine, the simulated aircraft cockpit and the engine simulation testing platform.The engine type using the motor driven starter as its starter must be chosen as the aero gas turbine engine; a new control system was installed on the starting circuit of the engine; many systems of the engine were refitted in the requirement of the work. Then, the constant speed cold state run of the engine was realized. Therefore, for using the cold state to simulate the run of the engine after starting, the aero gas turbine engine is suitable for using in campus environment for its low running cost, safety and no noise pollution.The simulated cockpit, which is based on the Boeing 737-300 aircraft cockpit, is open design without casing. It is equipped with a central control stand, the main instrument panels, and pilot seats, etc.. The components of the instruments, indicator lights and control devices in the central control stand and the main instrument panels were used by both the real components of aircraft and high resolution chartlets. The components of the instruments, indicator lights and control devices in the panel closely related to engine test uses the real components, and the remaining ones were used the high resolution chartlets instead of the real components.The engine simulation testing platform is composed of domestic desktop computer and the software, Flight Simulator 10, which was produced by the Microsoft. It could be used to complete the engine virtual test of corresponding aircraft type after being installed the Aircraft Model Plug- in.The trial test indicates that the practical training teaching platform of aero gas turbine engine test could provide a realistic cockpit environment for the learners. All the operation procedure of CFM56-3 engine ground test can be completed on the platform, except the performance testing of the engine based on the manual. So, it achieved the teaching goal of making students to master the basic steps of aero engine testing on the wings. At the same time, it is also obtains good effect in the limited capital input. It provides a feasible equipment solution of practical teaching of aero engine test for higher vocational colleges. Furthermore, it is a useful exploration for higher vocational colleges to make full use of old equipments for developing the new training equipment to meet the teaching requirements.
