In recent years, China has been suffering for its infamous smog and severe pollution. The indoor air quality has gotten worse and become a huge threat to human’s physical and mental health. Air purifier is a small home appliance which is used for cleaning indoor air. For the moment, using an air purifier is the most effective method to improve indoor air quality. However, the air pollutants like PM2.5, PM10, SO2 can’t be effectively removed by those air purifiers in the market. Therefore, it’s real y necessary to develop a kind of air purifier which can completely purge those air pollutants. In our prophase research, we developed a washing type purifier, but the outlet humidity is excessive. Living in an excessive humidity environme nt is harmful for people, so it is necessary to control the purifier’s humidity.Firstly, based on the theoretical analysis of silica gel wheel, a model for analyzing and calculating the dehumidifying performance of silica gel wheel was created. And by Fortran programming, a software aimed to simulate the silica gel wheel was developed. After simulating, we got the size of wheel and some operating Parameters which affect the wheel’s performance.Secondly, a testing system was established and the dehumidifying performance of the silica gel wheel was tested. The experimental results were consistent with those of simula t io n model after comparison. Meanwhile, taking every factors into consideration, the Paper got optimal operating Parameters: regeneration air capacity 75m3/h, regeneration air temperature 75℃ and the optimal wheel speed 0.3rpm.Then, the Paper analyzed the heat transfer mechanism of vapor condensation with non-condensable gas and designed a regeneration air condenser. The designed double-piped condenser which can ful y use cooling mediums(water and process air) in the air purifier can condense the saturated regeneration air and implemented regeneration air recycling.Finally, the Paper made an optimal design for an existing air purifier by adding dehumidifying unit, anti-bacterial unit, HEPA filter.
