With the development of our social economy, city urbanization intensifies day by day, which has brought a series of social problems such as environmental pollution. In recent years, our people’s living standards continue to improve, and people’s requirements on indoor decoration are going higher. The population of cities is growing much faster, and density of buildings in cities is going higher as well. Besides, sealing performance of buildings is getting better and better. Citizens are relying heavily on vehicles for getting around. All these cause outdoor and indoor pollutant sources and kinds increasing. Because people are more concerned about health and environmental protection, they pay a lot attention on air quality. This gives birth to design and development of air purifier. This project aimed at indoor air purifier research, and designed an efficient, simple, stylish product, which is easy to use. It will occupy smaller space compared to existing similar products, and match well with home environment.By means of product design research, questionnaire survey, observation and user interviews, this thesis mainly targets at young people and families. Combined with the concept of user-centered design, this thesis conducts a comprehensive analysis of the design requirements of the user’s physiology and psychology. With the use of ergonomic concept, the project finally determines the design concept of indoor air purifier. This paper focuses on overall appearance, internal functional structure, color match, human engineering, key cleaning technologies, user psychology, product size etc. Indoor air purifier is mainly composed of an outer panel, a coarse filter layer, a fine filter layer, sterilization function module, fans, air inlet and outlet, all kinds of sensors, humidifying device, module installation and fixation slot, dirt storage device, operation and display panel and various functional buttons etc. According to the practical needs of different groups, each function module can be installed by slots, and this is of great convenience to users.This project is based on product design and user survey statistics analysis, focusing on the main needs of users, determines the main internal function structure, and designs a more traditional air purifier first. Then, the designer makes improvement and refinement on its forms and appearance, finally designs two kinds of ideal indoor air purifier product shape. The product itself is an ornament and is able to integrate into the modern home furnishing decorations, saving the use of space. The color combination of the product is white and gray, which conveys a sense of fashion, cool and open. Considering the use environment of the product, product design is smooth, stable and solid, that is neither abrupt, nor conservative. This makes user feel nice and comfortable. The novel formal design combined with simple color match, makes the product goes well with the living environment. It is complete and perfect from every angle, and is not subject to the limit of its location, which is suitable for the use of the target population. Endowing a sense of quality to the product design, in order to make it display its own value better.
