The line of consumers’ flow are the vessels of shopping malls, the consumers are the flowing blood, and the shops are their organs. The success of shopping malls depend on the flowing lines, and the design of the lines of consumers’ flow is the fundamental starting point of the architectural design. The studies on the lines of consumers’ flow of the big-scale enclosed shopping mall have very important significance.This dissertation is divided into six chapters, and the 1st, 2nd chapters are the background; 3rd, 4th and 5th chapters are the core of this paper; the 6th chapter is the conclusion. And the abstract as follows:The 1st chapter is the introduction about methods, frame, the research status at home and abroad, research background and significance, the research object and scope, and the related concepts.The 2nd chapter is the background of the shopping malls and their flowing lines. Firstly, introduce the composition of spaces and formats in shopping malls; and then introduces the relevant theories of design and their application to generatrix’s design; Finally, discusse the related factors of big-scale enclosed shopping malls’ generatrix, including external connection and its influence on the shopping malls and their generatrix. The internal dynamic elements, types, characteristics the spatial scale, and the evaluation factors etc. This chapter is the basic research of the following investigation and design.The 3rd chapter is the core of this dissertation, mainly on carding, analysing, and summarizing the data of investigation. Collect the first hand data on shopping malls and their generatrix, the external connection and internal flowing lines of selected objects for in-depth analysis, including the types and characteristics, and the present problems, trying to find out the intrinsic relationship among consumers, shopping malls and the generatrix, summarizing and inheriting the advantages, and providing the theoretical and practical basis for generatrix’s design in shopping mall.The 4th chapter is the study of the external connection based on the survey. Discuss the classification, characteristics and function of the external connection, and put forward the corresponding design strategies.The 5th chapter is the study of internal generatrix. First of all, discuss the composition and function of the internal generatrix, then the design principles, and in turn to decomposition, and evaluation on horizontal generatrixs, vertical generatrixs, including horizontal generatrix’s types and their adaptability, the overall design strategies, special design strategies in four types of horizontal generatrix and their space scale. The composition of vertical generatrix, arrangement, setting, and the integrated design, etc. This chapter mainly discusses how to design the internal generatrixs and give solving strategies and measures to the problems in order to guide the design work in the future.The 6th chapter is the summary of the above five chapters, and strengthen the conclusions.
