The line of consumers'flow is the backbone of a shopping mall as the function of a shopping mall is achieved mainly through the design of it. In other words, the design of the line of consumers'flow is the foundational starting point of the design of a shopping mall. Thus, a concentrative study on the design of the line of consumers'flow can help guide the whole design of a shopping mall.The first half of this paper is the study of foundational theory, including a general explanation of the line of consumer flow, humanizing studies of the line of consumer flow, and commercializing studies of the line of consumer flow. First, it introduces the concept of a shopping mall and its architectural features. Besides, it also makes a study on the concept, function, and composition of the line of consumer flow. Then, it analyzes consumer psychology and consumer behavior. .At last, it studies the lucrative modes of a shopping mall and the location of the borrowers in it, summarizes the principle of humanizing design of the line of consumer flow.The second half of this paper is the study of the design method, including horizontal and vertical design of the line of consumers'flow as well as its space shape. The principle of horizontal design of the line of consumer flow is to completely display the shops on the same floor, allow maximal number of consumer to pass maximal number of shops. Huge amount of consumers will be gathered and pass effectively through the main shops and the distinctive cortile and the magnetic power of the square, which guarantees balancing the consumer flow inside the shopping mall. Based on the analysis of the lines of consumer flow in a large number of representative shopping malls, it proposes the mode of the layout of the line of consumer flow: the line of consumer flow can generally be single or double lines if the shopping mall is small while it should be multi-lines if the shopping mall is large .As to single line construct, the main shops are generally located on the top or the middle of the shopping mall; as to the double line, main shops are generally on the top of line of the consumer flow; as to the multi-line, main shops are scattered in the shopping mall, taking up the angles of the line of consumer flow. The design of the leading-in of the line of consumer flow is an important part in the design of the line of consumer flow, which includes designs of the lines of consumer flow outside and as well as at the exit and entrance of the shopping mall. The aim of vertical design of the line of consumer flow is to guide consumers to floors of low commercial value, its design methods including leading in consumers on different floors, multi-layering the main shops or put them on the top floors, and choosing and distributing traffic tools reasonably. Cortile can effectively promote vertical commercial value so it should be paid enough attention. Horizontal and vertical lines of consumer flow consist of space of consumer flow. Consumers are gathered and guided through the organization of the space order, the formation of the integration, the design of distinctive and charming space.
