Typical aeolian sand samples in Mu Us desert area were choosed and road performance test research was systematically carried out, the main work of this paper is as follows:(1) Firstly, the aeolian sand samples are tested for basic physical and mechanical property, mainly including graincomposition, chemical properties, particle shape,etc.(2) In order to study compaction characteristic of aeolian sand sample, heavy compaction test, surface vibration compaction test and bottom vibration compaction test is carried out. Parameters such as vibration frequency, amplitude, vibration time,surface pressure, moisture content and gradation etc are changed in bottom vibration test. According to the test results, the determination method of maximum dry density of aeolian sand under diverse grading conditions is confirmed;testinstrument, testprocedure and test cautions are summarized.(3) The static behavior of aeolian sand directly control the intensity and stability of aeolian sand subgrade. The static characteristic parameters including parameters such as CBR(California bearing ratio), rebound modulus, shearing strength and compression modulus etc. During the trial, by changing parameters such as moisture content of aeolian sand and compaction degree of aeolian sand,statistical law among moisture content,gradation and static characteristic parameters are concluded.(4) Based on test results of CBR(California bearing ratio),resilient modulus, shear strength and modulus of compression, stress and strain deformation law of aeolian sand is concluded, it can provides a basis for static analysis of aeolian sand subgrade settlement.
