With the development of China’s western desert region, desert road construction will bea focus of the future of transportation construction. Aeolian sand subgrade embankmentmaterial as the desert, at home and abroad of its road performance is not in depth. In thispaper, Yingshuang highway project as the basis,we are intend to do the research study bylaboratory experiments on aeolian sand compaction characteristics, strength characteristicsand deformation characteristics as follows:(1) Study to understand the basic properties of aeolian sand on aeolian sand physicalproperties, chemical properties, particle size distribution;(2) By laboratory compaction test, we get the maximum dry density and optimummoisture content of aeolian sand and analyze of the influence of the compactioncharacteristics of aeolian sand with clay content and other factors;(3) According to triaxial tests and direct shear tests, we get the dry density, clay content,moisture content, factors such as the influence of the shear strength of the aeolian sand, drydensity and clay content on aeolian sand shear strength greater impact;(4) By doing confined compression tests, we get the initial dry density, moisture content,with mud content and other factors on aeolian sand compression performance of the law, theinitial dry density, the aeolian sand compression modulus greater the clay contentchanges andvice versa;(5) According to the CBR test results, the moisture content and clay content greaterimpact on the ability of aeolian sand resistance to deformation, in which the clay content inthe CBR of21.7%aeolian sand maximum.
