Tower crane, as a crucial lifting and conveying machinery, performs a significant role for building construction. At present, security protection devices of domestic tower cranes have limited effectiveness for preventing collision. And then the accidents occur on occasion, which causes weighty influence on the society. Therefore, the study on safety monitor and anti-collision system of tower crane is of great significance for the safety of building construction.This thesis focuses on multi-parameter monitor and anti-collision technology of tower crane. Aiming at the shortage of the existing venture estimation method and real-time dynamic position calculation algorithm of anti-collision, based on the small amount of communicative data among tower cranes and simple algorithm, this paper proposes the anti-collision calculation by monitoring comprehensively and utilizing vectors to calculate the distance of tower cranes, which is simple and easy to implement. The different calculation methods of alarm distance provided in the study according to the motion distinctions, different movement directions and speed of tower cranes, were regarded as the criteria to judge whether the tower cranes collide. Thus, it could avoid some especially dangerous conditions and improve the work efficiency and reliability. By MATLAB, the simulation of 5 kinds of collision condition of tower crane, verify the improved effect. The hardware design of the system were realized by the use of S7-200 224 XP CPU. The presentation of the information of tower cranes’ operation states were realized by the use of SMART 700 IE touch screen. The parameters of anti-collision between crane towers were transmitted through the use of the Zigbee data transmission module. The installation spot, the standardization method and the alarm settings of the parameter sensor in the tower cranes were determined. Based on the development environment of STEP 7-Micro/WIN, the main program, signals collection, wireless communication and the anti-collision program of the system were programmed. Based on the configuration software WinCC flexible, the main monitor interface, the sensor standardization interface, multi- machines’ anti-collision interface and other operation interfaces were designed. The feasibility and effectiveness of the system are verified by the simulation test in the laboratory.
