Interior Space Reform Design Of Changsha Shuyuan International Youth Hostel

With the trend of sustainable development, the international youth hostels in China which embrace the business value of "independent, self-help, green, environmental, close to nature" are increasingly popular among young people. After a large scale of surveys we found that rebuilding of old buildings is a kind of method which advocate to environmental friendly society, and also a main type of the youth hostel in China. However, in our country, such new type of rebuilding method is mainly according to the personal preference of the proprietors, instead of reconstructing and designing by professional architects or designers. Due to lacking of professional reconstruction of the old buildings which will inevitably hinder its future development and lead to the interior design of youth hostel falling behind, therefore it has significant meaning of practical application for renovation and reuse of interior space of youth hostel in China.Changsha Shuyuan international youth hostel which modificated from an old printing house in 2008, is a total construction area of about 2600 square meters, its management idea, management mode, residents groups, building types, room type are evidently different from other city hotels, which popular among young travelers and become a distinctive hotel in Changsha. But the functional layout of its interior space, the partial functional layout of its interior scale, space and architectural structure and so on still exist certain problems.This paper based on the management idea of Changsha Shuyuan international youth hostel, leaded by the sustainable design idea, designed proposed by the spirit pursuit of "simplicity, environmental protection, natural", and aimed the "green, environmental protection, humanization" as its design theme to reconstruct the interior space of the Changsha Shuyuan international youth hostel. Based on the previous investigations of this project, we will focus on its internal space, local functional layout, scale analysis and conclude the design problems, confirm the overall orientation of this design, draw the design sketch of the reconstruction and accomplish the finally design plan. We are eager to effectively address the existing issues of the interior space, trying to innovate the design approach of the reuse of the old buildings, and exploring the reasonable methods to design the space of the youth hostel using the design approach of the reconstruction. Among the above, in this paper, the existing interior problems of reconstruction and innovative design is the focus of our project, to create green space and reuse of old buildings is the primary attention of this project, and I hope this project will be the design reference of the reconstruction of the youth hostels in other Chinese cities.
