For a long time, the project manager has faced with a variety of project risks during the construction of the power grid project. With the increase of long-distance and high voltage of power transmission project, the construction of power engineering is facing with the risk of long construction period, more professional involved and difficulty in construction. Therefore, this paper adjusts the concept of risk management into the grid project management; grid construction risks can be effectively managed.This paper focuses on risk management for power grid project, hoping to provide scientific theory and feasible method for power grid project management. Several methods, such as Interpretative Structural Modelling and ANP are synthesizedly used according to power grid construction projects’ characteristics, also the qualitative and quantitative technology. The innovative points are as follows:Firstly, risk management theory was applied to grid project risk management and studied systematically. First the risk characteristics were analyzed and risk management for power grid construction risk management were defined clearly. Then a theoretical framework of risk management for power grid construction was build. Besides, we also studied the objective, principle, impacts, implement details and basic process of risk management for power grid construction. List of risk factors of construction of risk management system is developed for power grid construction, and it provides a theoretical foundation for further research. Secondly, risk factors which affect the power grid construction were studied, including political risk, social risk, environmental risk, economic risk, technical risk and management risk. In order to analyze the complex relationship among these six risk factors, an interpretative structural model for risk factors of power grid construction projects was build based on ISM. Then the hierarchical relationship among risk factors of power grid construction projects was discussed, guiding the quantitative analysis of power grid construction projects risk. Thirdly, a risk evaluation system for power grid construction projects was build, and an evaluation method combining ANP and interpretative structural model was constructed. Risk evaluation model combining ANP and interpretative structural model takes complex relations among risk factors and the fuzziness into consideration. It provides the basis for quantitative risk analysis of power grid construction projects. Finally, the paper focuses on risk prevention and control of power grid construction projects with risk control measurement according to the results of risk assessment. Risk control measures of power grid construction projects was discussed, and the corresponding control measures for each type of risk factors, which were feasible, were proposed.This work has theoretic contribution on the models of risk analysis, assessment and control of power generation companies. It provides theoretical and strategic support for the management and decision making of power grid construction projects in an uncertain environment.
