The Catering Building Regional Research And Expression

Long history of Chinese Farming culture gradually shapes the unique values of "Food is what matters to the people". However, with the social progress and rising living standards, people pursue not only the delicacy but also the cultural values that the food contains. As a carrier of the local food culture, the catering building becomes the public space of leisure, entertainment and communications, which is necessary to the modern people and has a special status in their social lives.Within an era of globalization, the diversities and characters of the region culture slowly weakens because of the accelerated connection and convergence of the world, as the research emphasis of this paper, the catering building encounters the same situation. But the local culture is still been attached importance to by worldwide designers because of its indispensable connotation. In the design of the building, in order to fulfill its functions, it must contain a sense of belongingness and uniqueness, making it a perceptual home. However the current catering building design links poorly with the surrounding environment and region culture with a form of luxury, which loses the true meaning of the food culture, let alone generating the derivative culture connotation. Therefore, the paper researches the relationship of the local food culture and the catering building, and studies the innovative and modern representation of region image of the catering building.The paper firstly depicts the conception, origin, functions and characters of the catering building, which is the theory basis of the article. Then the depth analysis is done between the region culture and catering building because of the importance of the food culture, which is a crucial part of the intangible culture. Through the analysis of the guiding and limitation effects of the culture to the building, the interaction of two elements is been studied deeply, a successful design should integrate culture into building, creating a space full of region characters, bringing people the enjoyments of both material and spiritual civilization. Next a comparative analysis is conducted among the research examples to summarize the tactics and principles of the region design by means of the space, material, color, technology to construct the region image of the building. At last, a practical activity of the Lingquan Heights Design is done to induce the revelations and conclusions of the research.The paper conducts a meaningful collection and sortation of the documentations and on-the-spot photos, and tabulates the functions of the catering building, which will be arranged to keep records to hope to help the future design of the catering building.
