The Study Of Spatial Form Evolution And Optimization Countermeasures Of Jimo

Jimo city is an important opening city located in the eastern coastal area.With thestaggering social and economic development and development in other field of Jimocity,Jimo,as the north wing of Tsing Dao urban core, has gradually become a modernmedium city which develops business,light industry,tourism industry,export of agriculturaland sideline products processing as its leading industry. Since the reform and opening ofChina, Jimo’s economy has developed rapidly and its urban land also has changed a lot. Thisstudy took the downtown of Jimo as study area to conduct the study of spatial form evolutionand optimization countermeasures of Jimo. RS and GIS technology were used in thisstudy,and TM RS images of1985,1990,1995,2000,2005,2010,2005and2014wereinvestigated to extract the outlines of downtown to get their data of area and perimeter.Themulti-type attribute data were made together such as the economy, the society, the populationand so on. Then we unified the spatial analysis method of GIS to analyze Jimo’s successionalvariation process of evolution of city spatial form and the intrinsic mechanism in itcomprehensively and quantitatively. At last, unify the urban planning strategy of Jimo atpresent to propose both optimization and regulation of the city spatial form and its sustainabledevelopment pattern.The main conclusions are as follows:1The extension speed and strength of Jim’s downtown changed significantly from1985to2014. During the reform and opening, Jimo’s downtown extended obviously, Theextension speed and strength became irregularly during different period. The area ofdowntown was78.7Square kilometers.2The Compactness ratio, Fractal Dimension and Radial index were used to analyze thecharacteristic and evolution of city exterior spatial form of downtown. During1985-2014, theCompactness ratio was low generally and decreased all the time. The Fractal Dimension wasbetween1.45to1.85, it showed that the stability of downtown was high. The variation ofRadial index showed that it has risen all the time since1990, it is24.6in1990and rose to62.2in2014. This suggested that the parts of downtown were less and less compact during1985-2014.Jimo government was not closely associated with city boundary. It’s economicdevelopment was not comprehensive.Jimo government didn’t play radiation and driving function effectively, the internal compenents were not closely associated with each other.3The center of mass transfer was used to analyze regulation of the city spatial form, itshowed that the center of mass transferred irregularly and it suggested that there wassomething wrong with the development process of downtown. On one hand, Jimogovernment wasn’t strict in development of the whole city，on the other hand, it showed thatthe economic development in downtown was unbalanced.4We used fan analysis to analyze urban spatial expansion of Jimo in all directionsduring1985-2014. The city mainly expanded in the direction of east, northwest and south.The high strength expansion is in the direction of east, northwest and the medium strengthexpansion is in the direction of southwest.5According to the former analysis, the spatial expansion form of downtown wasunbalanced extension of layers. Unify its spatial evolution mechanism, it is due to social andeconomic development, natural geographical conditions, transportation conditions, new cityconstruction, city planning and functional transformation. The new concept of sustainablecity spatial form was made together to optimize city spatial form. The downtown should beexpanded in the direction of east to establish eastern new area and connect itself to the Bluesilicon valley slowly. The future Jimo eastern new area would be Jimo’s downtown.6Jimo government should make overall urban planning and optimize industrial structure.The last but not least, lead the traffic effectively. Only in this way, could it provide the betterliving environment for Jimo’s people and improve people’s quality of life. It could alsonarrow the economic gap between different areas. In the end, its sustainable developmentpattern would come true easily.
