High-speed camera can accurately record the transient process of the high-speedtarget, which can slow a fast passing form observed target at the high speed scenedown in post processing rewind to let the human eye can distinguish. High-speedcamera s performance makes it has become an important tool to study transientphenomena. At present, high-frame-rates and high-resolution images has a widerange of application requirements in areas such as industrial production andscientific experiment, and the Defense. Countries around the world are investingheavily in high-speed HD cameras and are all doing a lot of research effort and hasachieved good results. However, compared to the western developed countries,domestic research in high-speed HD camera is limited by the abroad policy of importrestrictions in high-speed camera, this makes the level of research is far less foreign,so It’s very important to carry out the research work of High-frame-rate andhigh-resolution-ratio camera.HD high-speed camera systems designed in this paper are based on ahigh-performance CMOS image sensors developed by United States ALEXIMAcompany AM41V4to be studied. We will detail the functions and features ofAM41V4, and elaborate HD high-speed camera works, analyzes the key technologyHD high-speed camera. On this basis, the high-speed HD camera use Xilinx’sVirtex-6FPGA as the control core of the system, DDR3memory as a dynamic imaging register, DVI display interfaces to take the frame out to display, use CameraLink interface as the system interface to transmit the camera image data. The studywill accumulate engineering technology in the design process, laid the foundation forthe later other related research.The main work are as follows::First, draw up the plan to design the high-speed HD CMOS camera system. Byanalyzing the key technologies of the high-speed HD camera (e.g, collection, control,storage, display, transmission, etc.), to compare the type of devices required byhigh-speed camera systems, eventually we adopt the design, in which a CMOSimage sensor is a photosensitive element, FPGA is the control core of this system,high-speed large-capacity DDR3SDRAM is a image data register, DVI displayinterfaces is a display and Camera Link interface for transmit image data.Second, set up a hardware platform for the high speed CMOS HD camerasystem. The paper has completed the circuit design of CMOS image sensor in thehigh-speed data acquisition modules, and the circuit design of control unit in FPGAcontrol module and the image data staging in DDR3; as the same time, the paper alsohas completed the circuit design of the image display from the frames in interfacemodule for DVI and the images data output from Camera Link. On this basis, thispaper has completed the PCB design of the camera acquisition module.Eventually, do logic design foe the high-speed CMOS camera system. Thispaper has completed the timing and frame timing control of the acquisition modulein CMOS image sensor, and the read/write control in DDR3register. This paper hasalso completed the logic control of DVI interface image frames display, and theoutput of the Camera Link interface.This paper makes CMOS image sensor AM41V4a application to HDhigh-speed camera, which can reached high-speed HD standard in both of resolutionand speed aspects. While, AM41V4chip, can conversion the surface array tomultiple line array which has free-form interval through the flexible design of FPGA,according to different shooting scene needs, can programming opened for window to makes this system more flexible and can meet the higher frame rate measurementneeds. This system reduces the limitations on CMOS image sensor high-speedacquisition bandwidth in the interface module with from camera output bandwidthby introducing the DDR3memory to cache the image data, which can high-speedrecording and real-time monitoring with the DVI.
