When we adopt scientific method to study the port and the city in historical circu instance, we can see its pattern, that is from "build up a city with a port" to " prosper a city with a port". Rational utilization of various kinds of dominant resources and re-use Dalian’s industrial heritage, conducting researches and combing Dalian’s current i ndustrial heritage status while combining domestic and overseas practical experience on relevant cases to make corresponding suggestions and strategies which ensure in th e process of city renovation, Dalian preserves her valuable civilization origin yet rema ins sustainable development. This essay elaborates as below:First, introduction of background, research meaning, relevant concepts, research methods, practice and experience on industrial heritage both home and abroad, and de fine its meaning of theoretical study and practical guiding significance.Second, to straighten how Dalian’s industrial heritage has been formed over the years and the history of Dalian Port, to conduct field research on Dalian Port industri al heritage current situation to gain first-hand material and market research questionna ire for further analysis.Last but not least, to establish a scientific evaluation index system based on curre nt situation analysis. Using evaluation results to analyze a comprehensive protection g rade of historical and culture value, economic value, social value and touring value fo r Dalian Port’s industrial heritage architecture. It generalizes and analyzes domestic a nd overseas outstanding industrial heritage protection cases and Dalian Port’s renovati on. Generating a proposal on Dalian Port renovation based on field research, evaluatio n and case study above. To sum up, this essay focuses on reflection and summary of i nsufficiencies of project planning and feasibility, and raise further study prospect sim ultaneously.
