With the large-scale of the ship and the improvement of pre-outfitting level, hull blocks become bigger in terms of size and weight, but rigidity relatively reduces. Designers not only need to take into account site crane resources, block construction mode, block structure form, weight and center of gravity, but also block lifting strength, which makes the design of the lifting scheme complicated. Based on the above reasons, lifting scheme of automation design method is researched with the aid of Tribon secondary development technology. The purpose is to develop a set of automatic lifting scheme layout system which is specially used in cargo area’s annular total block of VLCC.Firstly, lifting lug is considered as an important component for lifting scheme design. Developing lifting lug library costs considerable time and work. The method of lifting lug’s fast modeling was proposed based on Tribon fast modeling environment by using Tribon internal modeling language, Vitesse tool for secondary development and Python language. A set of parameterized modeling method was also established.Secondly, automatic lifting scheme layout system regards the design of arranging lifting lugs algorithm as its key part. The research designed different algorithms for blocks according to atrficial design experience, various constraints, strength safety and so on. The arranging lifting lugs algorithm for side bottom block would be detailedly introduced in this paper.Finally, strength calculation module was developed with ANSYS secondary development technology which maked block model reconstruct and calculate from Tribon to ANSYS. The process was completely carried out by related engineering software which calls by external program. The way of structural reinforcement was determined by finite element analysis results, so the reinforcement structure design of block lifting was more reasonable.Automatic lifting scheme layout system makes more than70%of VLCC blocks produce lifting schemes quickly and accurately. Designer can fine tune and modify the lifting scheme, which is significant for shortening shipbuilding period and guaranting the quality of construction.
