| With the progress of cultural building in China in recent years, the construction of museums is paid high attention, and the development of them is getting faster and faster. However, the gap between the market needs and the reality is huge. I started to research the development and design of museum’s cultural souvenirs after I had participated in a project of museum’s souvenirs design. This article is exploring new ideas of developing and designing museum’s cultural souvenirs from the angel of scooping out the customer needs.This article launched a user study of purchasing museum’s cultural souvenirs by using qualitative and quantitative research methods, including interviews, focus groups, SET analysis, questionnaires, desktop research and so on. Then I implemented the process of user needs extraction and classification using encoding methods based on Grounded theory. Then I transformed the needs into the design principles and methods for museum’s cultural souvenirs. At last, I prove and support my research results through practice of Suzhou Museum’s souvenirs developing and design. |
