China has come to a period when rapid economic development, urban size gets biggerand bigger, more people come into the city to live, thus the population of the city gets biggerand city public transportation system must catch up with the need of bigger and biggerpopulation of people. To release the traffic jam, air pollution and prevention of the other urbandiseases getting worse, the government proposes advocated public travel theory. This wholeset of solution is for release the traffic pressure and ease the pollution. A whole city publictransportation system can provide the people in the city integrative and convenient facilities.The system covers all the information of public bus net and it contains vehicles, bus stops andother hardware facilities. All these can help people get their destination. The first step ofpublic transportation would be the bus shelters. They are built on the both sides of the streets,they can provide perfect waiting needs and they can be sure that everyone can use thesepublic sites fairly, no matter it’s the youngs, olds, children or special needs people. They arerequired to be simple, directviewing and safe. To achieve the requires, the bus shelters mustconsider all kinds of needs from different people. Design the bus shelters would meet theserequires. My paper uses design theories, analyzes the users of bus shelters, human-machineinterface and mold making, along with the local environment, climate, specialties of the cityto provide the design theory basis of the perfect bus shelters.The first chapter of the paper is about the meaning and purpose of this topic andsummary of the study on this topic abroad and domestically. The second chapter is ranges indetail of public transportation and physical design of bus shelters and the influence factors ofthe design and design theory. The third and the fourth chapter are the main parts of this paper.The third chapter is targeting the geographic feature of Fushun and the climate environment toget to know the bus shelters’ users travel behaviors and purposes. The fourth chapter containswith the theory basis and application principle of universal design, combine with publictransportation waiting facilities design. About these parts, the paper contains system composition, information dissemination and material are analyzed separately to design the busshelters. These provide the theory instruction and methods to improve the design of Fushunbus shelters. Assembling the analyzing results of the first three chapters, using the theoriesand data in the foregoing part of the paper. At the end, the paper brings on practical design ofthe main part of the bus shelters and resting seats.
