Research On Small Town Waterfront Updating Under The Guidance Of "Slow City Concept"

With the Party and state proposing ambitious development goals about "New urbanization" and "Beautiful China", how to build livable towns in the premise of economic development and social progress has become the focus of academic research. "Slow City" as a new way of living within a world of urban scales, is a development pattern for the protection of urban features, traditional style and customs. Further, the "Slow City" promotes the development of organic agriculture and environmental protection industry. So this model fit the requirements of the current new era development of urbanization. The "Slow City Concept" is the refinement of slow city development mode. Its essence is a kind of symbiosis concept to pursuit the harmonious development of people, of man and nature and of man and society. This development model provides a new concept of guidance for the development of small towns.Waterfront space is the ecological core and public places of small towns. And waterfront space creates landscape value and economic benefits for small towns. Waterfront updates and slow city concept has many meeting point. Use "Slow City Concept" guiding updated waterfront space. Learn the practices and experience of international "Slow City" success stories in urban construction. After doing so, it can provide more space for people to walk, plaza for people to communicate more, provide more green space for people to relax, make waterfront space become an important place for urban residents carrying "slow life". In this paper, the process of study use the field investigation, case analysis, data integration and other research methods. This paper based on landscape architecture, combines ecology, environmental psychology, the behavior psychology, the theory of urban and rural planning etc. "Slow city concept" as the guidance, study the small town Waterfront update strategy. Research conclusions are as follows:1 Propose the idea of Small Town Waterfront updating in the macro level. Include the following aspects:control pollution and restore vitality waterfront space, reshape the waterfront space texture and build green pattern, continue the traditional landscape style and create a local landscape, design humane space and create slow life atmosphere, build slow system and improve infrastructure.2 Propose the policy of Small Town Waterfront updating in the design level. Include the following four levels:Waterfront Quality:distinguish between static and dynamic slow activities, research space needs and concerns carrying different activities types; apply the "one tenth theory" and the public distance scale theory to grasp the waterfront spatial scales; use landscape accessibility evaluation as a scientific basis for adjusting the layout of waterfront space; analysis the influence of D/H on the space feelings, summarize the optimum ratio of the slow space creating.Waterfront Landscape Style:research the psychological feelings given by warm and cold colors, brightness, purity and other basic attributes; how to choose a plant by plant material configurations, forms processing plants and plant configuration techniques to highlight the regional characteristics; explore landscape paving harmony with the surrounding environment and how to reflect a sense of belonging in the paving.Waterfront Greenway Network:including the principle of waterfront Greenway route selection design, the distribution law of coaching inn and the approach of Road safety.Protection of Historical Context:including the following principle of the historical buildings and waterfront neighborhoods texture protection, the way of local customs exploration and protection.The author participated in the waterfront space update project of Jiehu town.In the design, use "Slow City Concept" as a guiding theory.In the design, the Slow City concept performance in water environment harnessing, waterfront greenway planning, waterfront landscape elements, waterfront space creating and context protection. This case further explore the integration process between "Slow City Concept" and small town waterfront space update, and make scientific validation and validity of research results.
