In recent years, with the development of urbanisation and the improvement of people’s living standard, urban waterfront, as the carrier of special attractive environment and most extremely economy-social in the city, is becoming a hot field of different research areas all over the world. The development and construction of urban waterfront not only brings the opportunity for urban economy and society, but also brings the challenges to shape the city style and image.In this paper, taking Xiangjiang River waterfront as a particular place, based on the concept of landscape, the evaluation and planning of Xiangjiang River waterfront were studied through the methods of combining qualitative analysis and quantitative evaluation, theory analysis and case study, macroscopic analysis and micro- planning etc. In this thesis:(1)Based on the definitions of the relevant concepts, the theoretical foundations of urban waterfront were put forward, which were the system theory, humanism theory, city form-based codes theory, landscape ecology and post occupancy evaluation theory.(2)Based on the analyzing of the development and landscape elements situation of Changsha Xiangjiang River waterfront, combining with the current domestic and foreign research results, put forward the landscape evaluation system of Xiangjiang River waterfront is a complicated and huge system consisting of water and greenspace system, land use system and the social culture system.(3)This article choose 18 indexes to compose the landscape evaluation system, including the channel security, water quality, shoreline morphology, green quantity, green space layout, vegetation types, function layout, facility allocation, transportation accessibility, city outline, architectural space, designing of hydrophilic, night lighting designing, cultural awareness, continuation of the context, local characteristics, coastal activities and space ownership etc. Using the analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy mathematics method to establish landscape evaluation model to evaluate the overall and the different section of Changsha Xiangjiang River waterfront.(4)According to the comprehensive landscape evaluation of each section and 18 single index scores, obtained the correlation coefficient between the comprehensive scores and each single index and the correlation coefficient between the comprehensive score and 18 single indexes.(5)Correspond each single index evaluation results of each section to the landscape object elements, and at the same time put forward the optimization ideas of some objectivity elements like water environment, green environment, land use and facility, architectural space environment, hydrophilic designing etc.From the target level, the overall evaluation of the waterfront landscape in Xiangjiang river is common; From the criterion level, the land use score is higher than the water system and green space score and is higher than the social and cultural score;From the single index, the majority of the higher-score-indicators are located in the center of the city, which have obvious centrality.
