The construction of the western mountainous area highway is accelerated with the development of the western. However, the severity of the mountainous area highway traffic accidents and the average number of accidents are more than the plain’s in view of the special terrain and environment of mountainous area. So it must to be solved that how to identify the mountainous highway key safety hazard areas, which can be to prevent and reduce the occurrence of traffic accidents. Thus, those thesis researches are as follows:① Four categories are divided from the main factors the mountainous area highway special point affecting the expressway in mountainous area in the article, namely: differences between special road, driver, vehicle, weather, as a starting point, with relevant statistics to explore the influence mechanism of four factors. the realistic basis is provided for the identification method of mountain highway key security trouble areas, and certain support is also provided ascension to take appropriate strategy for enhancing fault tolerance.② The traditional identification methods are researched and analyzed. what`s more, their respective advantages and disadvantages as well as the applicability of identifying the mountainous area highway key safety trouble areas are summarized. Combined with the particularity of mountain highway and the severity of the accident, it is concluded that there has a certain applicability of the improved method of accidents and the method of dynamic step length filtering in identifying the mountainous area highway key security in trouble areas. It is obtained by above that the cumulative frequency curve method based on dynamic filtering thoughts of strong adaptability to identify the key safety trouble areas in mountainous areas. The severity of the accident is considered by the use of the method of equivalent accidents method, as well as the disadvantages of the traditional fixed block is overcame by the use of the dynamic step length filtering method. The expressway`s applicability in identifying the mountainous area key security trouble areas is stronger in theory.③ In this paper cumulative frequency curve method which is based on the dynamic filtration is applied to the instance and considering with the cumulative frequency method only based on equivalent accident number method. It can be compared the length of the identifying key safety trouble areas section and the road accidents accounted for the entire study section equivalent percentage of the total number of accident. The method mainly of stronger applicability when it`s used to identify the mountainous highway safety trouble areas with the former more short sections and the advantage of higher percentage.④ Remediation measures are taken with certain targeted focus on mountain highway safety hazard area typical sections, which not only enhancing the security of fault tolerance mountain highway safety hazard area focus, but also efficiently utilizing the limited social resources.
