A Study On The Construction Of Huizhou Traditional Residence

Existing studies on Huizhou traditional generally focus on space, structure and the physical environment. Studies on the construction which is either too abstract or too specificlack summary. On the other hand research on Huizhou wooden framework is superficial, and lack ofin-depth analysis. This article attempts to summarize the construction of traditional residence in Huizhouand explain the joints of wooden framework.The article is divided into three parts:introduction, body and conclusion. The first part of the study introduces the origin, background and significance of the study and explain the frame of the thesis. The second part of the text is divided into four chapters. The first two chapters introducethe geographic and cultural backgrounds of Huizhou and the spatial form and introduce the three dwellings, which makes a foundation for further describe in the next chapter.The fourth and fifth chapter introduce and summarize the constructionoffoundation, walls,roofing and timber frame, etc. The wooden frame part introduces its two basic types and 18 kinds of commonly used specific forms. Chapter Ⅴ takesthree building in Yixian County as an example, and introduces the joints of the wooden framework, including basic ways of joints、 special nodes and the way how main and secondary building joint. The third part of the thesis makes a conclusion of the article.The whole thesiscontains about32 000 words,203 pictures and charts.
