Medical device is a sharp-cut industry with specialty. When developing a medical device, it needs d esigners, doctors, people who are good at Physics, biology, chemistry, and structural engineer and mechanical & electrical engineers. This is the product of a complex and rigorous teamwork. Industrial design’s ultimate goal is to meet the needs of people. Therefore, the medical equipment should meet the user and the patient’s physical and psychological need. Along with the increasingly develop of the modern society, “human touch” design of medical device has become a design trend. “Human touch” design care for people, designers stand on the users’ point to consider product form. They pay attention to the rationality of size and beauty of molding to make doctors’ operation more comfortable and patients’ treatment more enjoyable.Based on the emotional design principles and scholars research on medical equipment, this paper from the perspective of designers and target users proposes “human touch” design principles for medical device. Follow the perceptual engineering thought, adopt product semantic differential(SD) and factor analysis, to build the matching relation between perceptual image and form elements. Besides, by using the attribute list method, it increases expression of target image sketch. Research proves that the perceptual image play s an important role in medical equipment appearance design. The kansei image-based product form design not only has certain guidance but also provides theoretical foundation for designers to develop a new medical device.
